Telecommuters Finding Data Entry Jobs

Data entry and data processing jobs are the most popular remote positions available. Their popularity stems from the simple task of the job which consists of entering information into a database or document. Any person who has worked on a computer or performed basic typing tasks in a job has data entry experience. For this reason, it is one of the more preferred types of employment that be done from home.

Data entry operators can makes anywhere from $12 an hour for entry level to over $19 an hour for professionals with over five years experience. Most data entry jobs only require 6 months to a year of experience to start. Most data entry clerks are hired in employment services such staffing agencies and unemployment offices. Data entry keyers are paid the most in natural gas distribution firms, with the average worker making around $41,600. *

The reason remote data entry jobs are so difficult to locate is mainly because of their popularity. A majority of job seekers who search for work at home jobs are looking for basic data entry, typing or clerical positions. With thousands of job seekers searching for the same position, you can figure out how hard it must be to actually apply for a data entry job and get hired.

Although there are hundreds of data entry jobs available that can be done from home, applicants will need to get lucky and live in the right location and have the right experience. If a person in a state with few telecommuting jobs such Wisconsin wants to get a data entry position, they would have to wait until one becomes available that be done in any state in the United States. Since very few jobs are available in Wisconsin, the chance of a job seeker actually finding a data entry job in that state is slim. For job seekers living in New York, their chances will be a lot better. Data entry jobs are available often and applicants will have a better chance of getting hired.

The best advice I can give to someone who wants a simple data entry jobs from home is to make sure they live in a highly populated state or city. If you do not live in such an area, I would suggest looking for a job that requires specific skills and qualifications such as in billing, payroll or transcription to increase your odds of finding a job you do from home.
